  East-end houses

  Gulf Drive and Thomas Drive, where lower buildings sit closer to the sand, near Grand Lagoon and the County Pier.

• 

  Front Beach towers

  The condo corridor, where you’re renting a floor and a view. Parking, elevators, and which mile of Front Beach Road you’re on make the biggest difference. Individual properties are listed below.

  Middle beach

  Hutchison Boulevard, which locals call Middle Beach Road, with resorts, the summer waterpark, and everyday errands a few minutes off the sand.

• 

  Pier Park, on foot

  A stay near Pier Park puts shops, dining, and a movie within walking distance. Russell-Fields, the City Pier, is the fishing pier across the road, and the whole stretch stays lively.

• 

  The west end

  Laguna Beach and the stretch toward the Walton County line, where lower buildings mix with vacation rentals and condos.

  30A

  Scenic 30A runs through a string of Walton County beach communities, including Inlet Beach, Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Watersound, and Seaside.

  The bay

Getting here

Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) is north of the beach, in West Bay. Panama City is across the Hathaway Bridge. Drive times from the airport depend on where along the beach you’re staying.
