Panama City's east-side bay neighborhood. It was once its own town.
Millville is Panama City's east-side waterfront neighborhood, on St. Andrew Bay and Watson Bayou a few minutes east of downtown. Before it was a neighborhood, it was the biggest town on the bay.
In the late 1800s, settlers on St. Andrew Bay needed lumber for houses and boats, and Millville had the sawmill, a shipyard and the stores. By 1910 it was the largest community around the bay. It incorporated in 1913, and by 1918 about 2,000 people lived here, with hotels, a theater, churches and 31 businesses. In 1926 Panama City annexed it.
For decades a paper mill anchored Millville's waterfront. WestRock closed it in June 2022, and in 2024 SRM Concrete bought the site for a concrete and aggregates operation served by barge. The city runs a community redevelopment area here, the Millville CRA.
For residents, the waterfront is Millville Waterfront Park at 301 Maple Avenue: a boat ramp, fishing, a playground, picnic tables, a multi-purpose field and a walking track, open dawn to dusk.
Millville is inside Panama City, so city services and city zoning apply. Zoned schools depend on the street address. Find yours with the Bay District Schools zone lookup.
