What daily life centers on

The developer calls it a coastal village, with trails and green space between the neighborhoods. At the center, Village Commons has the resort-style pool, the fitness center and courts for tennis, pickleball, basketball and volleyball.

Origins Golf Course is the signature: a 10-hole par-3 short course by Love Golf Design, the firm founded by Davis Love III, built so families and casual golfers can play a quick round. Golf.com named it one of the 25 best par-3 courses in the world in 2020. Residents can also use the Lake Powell Dock to fish or launch a kayak or paddleboard.

Watersound Town Center

The open-air Watersound Town Center sits at the community entrance, at US 98 and Watersound Parkway, with shops, restaurants, services and offices, and it's still adding tenants. Bike paths from 30A and from Origins meet there.

Homes

Several builders work here, including Huff Homes, Romair Homes, Cole Construction, Key Lime Construction, Fischer Homes, Boswell and Arkon Homes. Most homes are single-family, and there's also a townhome section, Villas on the Fairway. The developer puts new homes at roughly 1,500 to 3,000-plus square feet.

Getting around

• Rosemary Beach and 30A's east end: about 5 minutes. Camp Helen State Park: about 6.
• Seaside: about 20 minutes west on 30A. Pier Park: about 20 minutes east.
• Airport (ECP): about 35 minutes. Downtown Panama City: about 45.

Good to know

Property taxes, permits and public schools here fall under Walton County, even though Panama City Beach is just down US 98; the Walton County School District's site has attendance zones. Amenity access runs through the Origins Membership, so ask how membership works and what it costs, and get any rental rules from the community's own documents.
