Upper Grand Lagoon

The north shore of Grand Lagoon, from the water up toward US 98.

The larger census place on the lagoon.

Upper Grand Lagoon is the north shore of Grand Lagoon and the neighborhoods behind it, up toward US 98 and the Hathaway Bridge. It's unincorporated, so Bay County is the local government. About 15,800 people lived here at the 2020 Census.

Life on the lagoon

The water sets the pace. Capt. Anderson's Marina on North Lagoon Drive is the hub for charter fishing, dolphin tours and cruises, with waterfront dining next door. Back from the lagoon, it's residential streets and bay-side lots off Magnolia Beach Road.

Beaches nearby

The Gulf is across the lagoon. Bay County's public accesses are on Spyglass, Gulf and Surf drives, and St. Andrews State Park, about 10 minutes away, has the jetties, bay and Gulf beaches, and the Shell Island shuttle.

Getting around

Downtown Panama City and Pier Park are each about 20 minutes away, in opposite directions. Afternoon traffic on the Hathaway Bridge and summer traffic on Thomas Drive add time. Find zoned schools with the Bay District Schools zone lookup.
